The Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) and the Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC) remain the most highly cited diabetes research trials and have truly altered the course of diabetes management forever. Thus, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the DCCT and follow-up study, EDIC, our editorial team is truly honored to feature the summary findings to date. In this online collection of articles, which appear in the January 2014 issue of Diabetes Care, we present eight articles that provide the overview of the study, the latest summary findings regarding macro- and microvascular complications, and future directions of the study.
