2nd Nordic Diabetic Foot Symposium which takes place 5 -6 October 2016 in Copenhagen.

Dear Colleague

2nd Nordic Diabetic Foot Symposium which takes place 5 -6 October 2016 in Copenhagen.

About the symposium and the initiative:

Nordic Diabetic Foot Task Force is a group of people from Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Denmark, who has combined forces in creating a multidisciplinary network of fireballs comprised of doctors, nurses, paediatrics, patient representatives, among others. The network is run by Klaus Kirketerp-Møller, Bispebjerg Hospital, and the main objective is to reduce the number of amputations caused by diabetic foot ulcers.

This is enabled via a thorough organization of treatment which secures that one can rely on the relevant medical expertise in the handling of the many various risk factors concerning the diabetic foot. Furthermore, the existing clinical guidelines are to be systematically implanted and maintained.

This is the second symposium arranged by Nordic Diabetic Foot Task Force, which takes place in Copenhagen and like its predecessor it will form a forum of shared knowledge and experience between doctors, nurses and foot therapists across sectors and countries.

The programme features many topics, among others; Advanced therapies: new perspectives in diabetic foot; Antibiotics when to treat, and alternatives: Biofilm; Casting offloading and preventive shoe wear; Compliance, adherence or ”laissez faire”. The paradox in neuropathy; Empowerment of the patient; HBOT; Problems with delay in care – and how we deal with it; Prophylactic surgery, just to mention a few. All presented by international as well as national experts, wishing to share their practical knowledge gained during many years of clinical work, via presentations, workshops and practical introductions.

See programme attached.

The Swedish representative in Nordic Diabetic Foot Task Force Steering Committee is Magnus Løndahl, MD, PhD, Consultant Endocrinologist Department of Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine, Skånes University Hospital.
